As all awake and present seniors probably know, in our Friday morning thesis classes we were treated to a surprise visit from the dean of Parsons. Tim Marshall came to us to discuss the letter/petition that was sent to him in regarding the senior show.
A recap of what was said by the dean
* The letter petition was well received and the professionalism of the effort was appreciated
* They understand our desire for having an illustration-only show and will be supportive in making it happen
* They will work with us through Steven
* They are enthusiastic about making a catalog or more lasting representation of our work
* They will help us promote the show and potentially give us space in a gallery on the 4th flr of 2W
* They are excited about the AMT show, feel it will be beneficial for us and are not interested in going back to previous models of how to coordinate the show
what was not said
* we were not given any figure, approximation or indication of what we could expect from the school financially
* whether or not the school would assist us with framing, installation, coordination, etc.
* how and how often we will be informed of decisions and progress being made.
what this means from here
* we need to continue to consistently communicate and put pressure on the dean and administrators
* we need to continue research into venues and fund-raising
* we have a garuntee from the school that our minimum bases are covered in terms of having a space and some amount of promotion. However, if we want a better show than the 4th floor galleries it is still very likely that we will need to do a good deal of it our selves.
